God’s Favor
Read 2 Samuel 19:1 through 20:26
“And anything you desire from me I will do for you”
(2 Samuel 19:38).
Eighty-year-old Barzillai had found favor with King David. Having generously provided David with supplies while the king stayed at Mahanaim, Barzillai now asked to remain in his hometown instead of returning with the king to settle in Jerusalem. Nearing the end of his life, Barzillai wanted to die in his own city and be buried near the graves of his parents.
David understood and granted Barzillai’s request. David had taken note of Barzillai’s attitude in helping him. Because Barzillai had honored the king, he was rewarded with the king’s favor.
As we serve our Lord by generously giving of our time and resources, He takes note of our heart attitude. A generous and thankful heart will always find favor with God. One who walks in God’s favor can ask for anything, and it will be done.
Are you walking in God’s favor? If not, why? Like Barzillai, purpose to develop a generous and grateful heart toward God. Then whatever you ask of Him, He will do for you.
Prayer Suggestion: Lord, help me serve You with a grateful heart for what You have done.
